try it outAll the Hues in a Heart
The Trevor Project's 2022 National Survey found that LGBTQ+ youth who found their school to be LGBTQ+-affirming "reported lower rates of attempting suicide", as did people who lived in an accepting community. A large part of non-accepting environments is because people are homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise anti-LGBTQ+. But often, I've found that many people who make environments uncomfortable and unsafe do so simply because they are doing it unconsciously, because they do not have the knowledge to do otherwise. All the Hues in a Heart is an attempt to remedy that.
All the Hues in a Heart is a game aimed to educate youth ages 12-15 on the LGBTQ+ community, focusing specifically on recognizing and understanding different identities and on navigating conversations with community members. Though we acknowledge that this topic is more difficult to make into a game, especially with animatable graphics, we still went forward with this topic as this is an important topic to address and educate.
I worked on Level 2 and the graphics throughout the game. I also helped with the planning and storyboarding. Kori did Level 1 and Level 3 as they both had a similar structure, and also wrote all the content for the game.
